How we work

At Bixi, how we work is just as important as what we deliver. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to workforce change. We use a structured but flexible approach to our work. Our methodology combines multiple sources of evidence with collaboration, curiosity and practical experience to understand what is really happening, design solutions that fit the context and turn ideas into action. From discovery and co-design through to practical implementation, we focus on creating change that is evidence-informed, human-centred and achievable.

Our methodology

We use an enhanced Double Diamond methodology that combines exploration and design with a stronger focus on context, implementation and continuous improvement. Through Describe, Discover, Define, Design, Deliver and Discuss, we bring together multiple sources of evidence and stakeholder insight to understand the challenge, develop practical solutions, support delivery and learn from their impact.

  • Describe: Understand your current workforce, context and challenges, and clarify what you want to achieve.
  • Discover: Gather evidence and insights to understand your workforce needs, opportunities and readiness for change.
  • Define: Establish a clear vision, priorities and outcomes for your future workforce.
  • Design: Co-design practical and sustainable workforce solutions, models and ways of working.
  • Deliver: Put solutions into practice through structured implementation, change support and capability building.
  • Discuss: Review outcomes, capture learning and use evidence to support continuous improvement.

Evidence-informed approach

We believe the best workforce decisions are informed by more than one source of evidence. We bring together different perspectives and types of information to build a rounded understanding of the challenge, test assumptions and develop solutions that are grounded in both evidence and real-world experience.

We use a combination of primary and secondary research, drawing on both quantitative and qualitative methods to build a rounded understanding of each workforce challenge. We tailor our approach to the project, using methods such as:

  • Primary research: this includes designing surveys, interviews, focus groups, workshops and stakeholder engagement.
  • Secondary research: existing workforce and organisational data, research literature, national datasets, policies, strategies and benchmarking.
  • Quantitative methods: analysing workforce numbers, fdemand, capacity, activity, skills, financial position and other measurable trends and patterns.
  • Qualitative methods: exploring people’s experiences, perspectives and insights to understand the context behind the data. This includes understanding lived experience of the workforce and expertise from thought leaders and professionals in relevant fields.
